The Benefits Of Speaking Spanish Fluently

Does anybody you know speak Spanish? In states like California and Texas, everyone probably knows no less than one person who speaks fluent Spanish. In the United States, almost half of all Hispanics reside in these two states according to statistics.

As a southern California resident, at least a quarter of people I know are Spanish speakers. And even though I have plenty of Spanish speakers in my life, I only know a handful of words in Spanish. That is a fact that I would like to remedy soon!

Have you ever considered learning Spanish? Speaking another language offers many benefits, and if you live in the United States, speaking Spanish would be more beneficial to your life than you may appreciate.

Large corporations and small business owners both recognize the value of Spanish speakers, making them a desirable addition to any company. Speaking the language gives you a unique opportunity to increase your potential customer base simply by being able to communicate. What does this mean for you as an employee? Higher wages and increased marketability to employers are two of the benefits to be reaped. If you already speak Spanish and English and are not seeing benefits in the workplace, you may want to find new employment that will reward you. You may realize how much you’re really worth!

As a southern Californian traveling to Mexico is a common occurrence so, you know that street vendors inflate their prices as soon as they know you don’t speak Spanish. You’re going to receive beneficial treatment if you are a Spanish speaker, which equates to lower prices and better overall service. No doubt you will develop a better cultural understanding if you’re looking for more than better prices when you travel to Spanish speaking locales. Think about the influence and education books have provided you on your opinion and understanding of your own culture.

By simply being able to read Spanish books and newspapers, think about how much more culture you will experience; a new world of feeling and thinking will reveal itself to you. If you need another reason to learn Spanish, consider the fact that Spanish is easy to learn, Spanish and English vocabulary is very similar. Moreover, Spanish is easy to read ��" even for a beginner.

Are you the type of person who likes to lend a helping hand? If you answered yes, as a Spanish speaker you’ll be able to be of more help to people around you because now you can communicate in English and Spanish. The same holds true for you: your newly acquired language skills will allow you to ask for help from people you wouldn’t normally communicate with. You’ll also be able to experience the heart of your local Spanish culture. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants and clubs where Spanish is the spoken language. You probably won’t be going there if you don’t speak Spanish. You will find it less intimidating to visit predominantly Spanish-speaking establishments once you have a basic understanding of the language.

Once you learn the language, you immediately increase the number of cable channels that you watch. Spanish television is a real kick in the pants if you’ve never tuned in. Spanish culture is thriving in almost every Spanish program. You may be shocked by what is being said as a first time viewer! Spanish radio stations are on the same wavelength; the formats between English and Spanish radio differ drastically.

And there is one more simple reason to learn Spanish: there’s no better way to increase the number of friends you have than to learn to speak a new language!
